ABSTRACT
Intestinal parasitosis is a major public health problem in developing countries such as Cameroon. They are particularly severe in children, in whom they can lead to malnutrition, anemia, reduced resistance to infections, and even increased mortality. In order to determine the frequency of intestinal parasitosis as well as the factors promoting their transmission, a cross-sectional and quantitative study was conducted in children consulted at the HDT. Out of 115 children examined, it appears that 42.6% of the children studied carry parasitic species: Entamoeba histolytica with 57.1%; Trichomonas intestinalis 24.5%; Giardia 18.4%. The most infected age group is ]0-3] with 56%. Most of the parasitic diseases diagnosed in our study are faecal diseases. They are the consequences of poor food hygiene practices and a water purification problem.
