ABSTRACT

Multiple pregnancies, particularly higher-order multiples such as quintuplets, are rare and considered high-risk due to the increased likelihood of maternal and foetal complications. This case report details the first recorded spontaneous quintuplet pregnancy at Banadir Hospital, Mogadishu, Somalia. The 38-year-old patient, gravida 9, Para 8, presented at 39 weeks of gestation, complaining of abdominal pain and uterine contractions. Ultrasound confirmed four live foetuses, all in breech presentation. She delivered the quintuplets via spontaneous vaginal delivery without complications. Neonatologists provided postnatal care, with one infant admitted to the NICU for monitoring. All four infants and the mother were discharged in good health after three days. This successful outcome highlights the importance of timely referral, a multidisciplinary team approach, and improved healthcare infrastructure
