ABSTRACT

Objectives: The objectives of this study were to assess the prevalence of chronic gastritis above 60 years in Egyptian hospitals. Materials and Methods: A simple random sampling of 80 above 60 years patients were selected from patients attending an Egyptian hospital. The research instruments comprise one set of questionnaires, during data collection we will use questionnaires distributes to the patients. The questionnaire is closed-ended question and the aim is to get all necessary data from respondents because the researchers believe these data collection methods or techniques enable them to collect reliable successfully. Results: Based on the results out of 80 participants 56.5%
which was the major participants were female, and more than 48% of the respondents were aged between 66-75 years old. More than 83.8% of our respondents were married, 43.8% of our respondents were attending university level, and 31.3% were secondary so that this indicates that most group of our respondents were university-level, 22.5% were employed, 77.5% were unemployed so that this shows that the most group of our respondents were non-employed. Conclusions: Future efforts should be directed toward educating both healthcare professionals, and chronic gastritis patients about
proper care. Community-based studies are also necessary to determine the actual prevalence of chronic gastritis complications.
