ABSTRACT

This work analyzes the characteristics of fish farming in the Maga locality. Specifically, this article aims to explore the factors of the evolution of fish farming and its impacts on local communities. Several scientific works and structured surveys carried out with fish farmers served as a basis for
approaching this study. The results show that fish farming practiced in the locality of Maga is dynamic and characterized by several factors that have evolved and space. These factors are linked to the strong demand for fish products. Local communities have developed a great understanding
of fish farming, which has enabled them to implement cultivation methods adapted to climatic conditions. Its development is a priority as aquatic resources, particularly fish species, are abundant and varied. The technical characteristics of the ponds are encouraging and are mostly above-ground tanks, enclosures, and floating cages, fed by water from local sources. This activity brings together several players such as fish farmers, fishermen, supervisors, processors, transporters, and traders. It has a considerable impact on local communities and helps fight poverty.
