ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of diet and excess on body mass
index of members of sport clubs in Kumba Cameroon. The prevalence of obesity
throughout the world continues to increase. An estimated 1.2 billion people in the
world are overweight with almost 300 million of them being obese leading to chronic
diseases. Proper diet and exercises can reduce chances of obesity and over weight
A convenience sampling method for data collection was used. Individuals approached
for the study were adequately sensitised on the study objectives in order to obtain
informed consent. Those who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were enrolled into the
study. In general, 101 people from sport clubs in Kumba were involved in the study.
Regular and continuous exercise as well as health deit leads to an ideal Body Mass
Index (BMI),
